Roy Harms
Celebration of a True Hero

Saturday, May 6th  11:15 AM 

Roy C. Harms, age 26, of Grafton, was killed on Sunday, August 1, 1943 in the attack on the Ploesti oil fields of Romania in WWII. Lt. Harms a pilot of a B-24 bomber, along with eight of his crew, was killed when the aircraft was shot down. He is coming home to Grafton, WI  for a military honor and burial on May 6th. The procession will travel down North Street toward the cemetery. The ceremony will take place at noon.

The public is invited to line the street at 11:15 in respect of Roy Harms service to his country and his home coming after almost 80 years of missing in action. Click below for more information.

THE RADIO ROSIES
An Encore Performance

Friday, May 12th  7:00 PM 

​The Ozaukee County Historical Society is pleased to bring back The Radio Rosies for an encore performance at the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center on Friday evening, May 12th at 7:00PM. Sway, Sway, Sway to the music of WWII, with songs of the Andrew Sisters, Lennon Sisters and McGuire Sisters. The Radio Rosies will put on an entertaining USO-Style Show with song and dance that you are sure to enjoy.

 

Tickets are available online or at the Cedarburg Branch of Port Washington State Bank. The ticket price is $20.00. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door the evening of the performance.

WWII EVENT

May 19th School Day  : May 20th Encampment

​The Ozaukee County Historical Society will once again partner with the Living History Reenactors to present a WWII Event focusing on 1943: The Fall of Northern Africa and the Fight for Southern Europe. The event is held at Ozaukee County Pioneer Village and will include demonstrations, exhibits, battles and the encampment. The village takes on the essence of a small European hamlet.

 

On May 19th local area schools are invited to an educational experience of a soldier's life during WWII. (Registration is requested).May 19th will also be a preview day for the public at a reduced price.

 

On May 20th the event includes the full scheduled for the day. (See Poster)

Cost is $10.00   9:00AM-4:00PM

BRAT FRY

June 4  11:00AM-2:00PM 

​The Ozaukee County Historical Society will hold a fund-raising Brat Fry at Fox Bros Piggly Wiggly - 810 E. Green Bay Ave., Saukville, WI.

​

Stop by, grab a brat and visit with some of our board members and volunteers. Find a way to get involved and help raise funds to defray the cost of Harry Potter- The Magic Returns.

​

Funds will also be collected for the Harold Dobberpuhl Scholarship fund. Two grants are being awarded this year to a Cedarburg and Homestead senior. Announcement will come out soon.

CAR SHOW

June 10  9:00AM-4:00PM Exhibitors are Welcome

​The Ozaukee County Historical Society will hold its third annual classic car show at Ozaukee County Pioneer Village. All makes, models will be on display along with classic trucks and motorcycles. Exhibitors will receive a commemorative dash plaque and there will be prizes for best in class. See details on flyer.

 

Tour the 24 buildings from rural Ozaukee County and learn about the rich history and those who immigrated to the area. Food and beverages will available to purchase along with a beer stand. Bluegrass jam with local musicians will be from 1PM-5PM. 

 

Free and open to the public!

FLAG DAY CELEBRATION

​The Ozaukee County Historical Society will hold a National Flag Day Celebration at Stony Hill School, the birthplace of Flag Day. The founder of Flag Day, Bernard Cigrand, will describe his love of the flag and why he want to make it a National observance. Patriotic songs, flag etiquette and flag raising will just be part of the festivities. Free and open to the public.

 

Children will receive a commemorate flag and pin. Ice cream will be served. 

​

Parking is limited so a free shuttle will be available to take guests between Stony Hill School and Ozaukee County Pioneer Village.

BLACKSMITH CLASS

June 10th  9:00AM - Pre-Registration Required

​The Ozaukee County Historical Society will hold a blacksmith class in connection with the Car Show Event. Resident Blacksmith, Eugene Durban, will conduct the class that will teach the basics of blacksmithing. Each student will be tutored in how to make a simple project to take home. 

​

Cost is $50.00  The class is from 9AM-2PM 

​
